Born in 1945 in Germany, Fredrick W. Lemke and his family immigrated to Manitoba, Canada in 1978 and moved to the Yukon one year later. In doing so, he was finally living near the wilderness he appreciated so much and which provides him with an abundance of motives and themes for his watercolour painting. Apart from incidental courses taken in his lithographic training, Fredrick is largely self taught. His paintings carry a sense of quiet satisfaction as he strives to depict the beauty and tranquility of the northern country, some of it still unspoiled and hardly touched by man. Exhibitions of his original art and a fine selection of limited edition reproductions have increased the popularity of Fredrick's watercolour art. His original paintings can be found in many private collections around the world and his prints are available in galleries of Western Canada and Alaska. |
